A Travel Diary
Sailing the Maya coast — October 2012
A fall cruise out of Galveston into the Western Caribbean — long days at sea, a turquoise beach, and a stop on the Maya coast at Costa Maya, where jungle-wrapped stone pyramids stand a short drive from the pier. A small set of the wide-open views from a week on the water. Tap any photo to enlarge it, or open the map.
A fall cruise out of Galveston into the Western Caribbean — a few days of open ocean and the wide, uncomplicated views a ship gives you.
The stop we remember was Costa Maya, where a short drive from the pier brings you to jungle-wrapped stone pyramids standing quietly in the heat. Add a turquoise beach and long lazy hours watching the water slide past, and it was exactly the kind of easy week the Caribbean is made for.
This trip ran 4 days, October 22–25, 2012. Along the way we spent time at Costa Maya & the Maya coast, At sea, and A Caribbean beach. The gallery below tells it day by day, in 9 photographs.
