Wisconsin's Door Peninsula in late summer — the oversized Adirondack chairs of Egg Harbor, cedar trails and bluff-top overlooks in Peninsula State Park, the Lake Michigan shore, and the ferry across to Washington Island. Tap any photo to enlarge it, or open the map.
A late-summer weekend on Wisconsin's Door Peninsula, the state's quiet thumb of orchards and shoreline. In Egg Harbor we found the oversized Adirondack chairs looking out over the bay, then spent the day on the cedar trails and bluff-top overlooks of Peninsula State Park.
A ferry carried us across to Washington Island, out where Lake Michigan opens up wide and cool. Two days, no rush — the kind of Midwest weekend that's better for being short.
