The holidays in South Florida — the Art Deco neon of Miami's Ocean Drive, parasails over the turquoise, the long drive down the Keys to Key West and its famous sunset sail, fireworks over the palms to ring in 2022, and the unmistakable guitar-shaped tower of the Seminole Hard Rock lit up against the night. The holidays spent chasing the sun down the length of South Florida. Miami came first — the Art Deco neon of Ocean Drive after dark, parasails hanging over the turquoise, and the unmistakable guitar-shaped tower of the Seminole Hard Rock lit up against the night.

Then the long drive south through the Keys to Key West, and its famous sunset sail out on the water. We rang in 2022 with fireworks over the palms, warm where the rest of the country was cold — a neon, sun-soaked way to close one year and open the next.

This trip ran 10 days, December 24, 2021 – January 3, 2022. Along the way we spent time at Key West & the sunset sail, Food & the Guitar Hotel, Miami Beach & the Art Deco strip, and Ringing in 2022. The gallery below tells it day by day, in 42 photographs.
